Yes, for me too the lure of Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand is too strong to enable me to easily visit other parts of the country, especially the deep south or the east. This trip to Pondicherry happened because I had to go to Chennai for an event. Then, earlier this year, I spent a month at a writers' residency in Pondicherry, and a fellow writer (K Srilata) who was there told me she had to go on a day trip to Tranquebar, because she needed to do some research - and she'd barely got out a "Would you like to come along?" before I'd begun getting out my camera.
Do go. I'm not too clued in to Chennai (have spent too little time there, and always on work), but both Pondicherry and Tranquebar are worth the effort it takes to get there!

We've been planning a trip to Pondicherry for quite some time, but this thing or the other --- the distance from Delhi, nearby mountains --- has played the spoilsport.
Your article, which glides on the wings of dream-like imagery, has rekindled my desire to give the Chennai-Tranquebar-Pondicherry triangle a final shot.
Thank you.
